World Cup pt. IV -- Comments so far

Well, I’ve watched most of several games, and here’s what I can say:
- My damn knee is stiff
Sorry, let’s try that again:
- England looked good, but not great. No huge faults that I could discern, but as I’m still a bit of a novice that may not mean much.
- Sweden looked great until they got near the goal, then it kind of seemed like they didn’t know what to do.
- Argentina wasn’t as impressive as I expected them to be. Same as England, though: no obvious weaknesses.
- I’m watching the TiVo’d Iran and Mexico right now, and so far their style of play suits me.
- Nobody’s taking ridiculous dives, and there’s enough back and forth to make it interesting. Not too many long series of passes so far.
- Mexico kind of looks like they lack the killer instinct unless they have some momentum already, while Iran’s players are all hustling to the ball
- I shouldn’t have said “nobody” on the dive thing, but still, it’s pretty minimal.
- Wow, at 70 minutes all of a sudden Mexico wakes up and gets a killer instinct.
- All I can say is, it gives a gimpy short guy some hope when a 5’4” soccer player can score a goal in the World Cup. Now if only I could run (and lose about 20 pounds in the process)...
